Dry Gas Seals (DGS)
The spiral-groove geometry maintains a gas film between the seal faces under normal dynamic operating conditions, supporting reliable operation and long service life in turbomachinery applications.
Under normal dynamic operating conditions, a thin gas film separates the stationary primary ring and the rotating mating ring, minimising wear. The operating gap depends on the seal design and operating conditions.
Cartridge-type seals in single, tandem or double back-to-back configurations can seal a wide range of gases handled by centrifugal compressors and used across many industries, including gas production, storage and transportation, gas processing, oil refining, chemicals and petrochemicals.
These seals eliminate the need for seal oil at the sealing faces, reducing the risk of process-gas contamination by seal oil. With correctly designed gas supply and separation systems, they can reduce routine maintenance costs and unplanned shutdowns.
