Seals for Steam Turbines

The Type 28ST non-contacting steam seal is a proven solution offering outstanding operating performance for industrial steam turbines.

The Type 28ST is a single-stage, non-contacting, gas-lubricated seal featuring a unique spiral-groove design for low- and high-speed applications across equipment operating in both transient and continuous modes.

It is designed to replace conventional sealing devices — segmented graphite rings and labyrinth seals — and can be installed in an internally or externally mounted chamber without turbine modification.

Materials

  • Face — antimony-impregnated graphite
  • Seat — tungsten carbide or a coated ductile substrate
  • Metal components — 410 stainless steel
